The Bockley Gallery in Minneapolis is located just west of Lake of the Isles, not far from Franklin Avenue. The Bockley houses rotating exhibitions of both local and national artists’ collections. Some of the current artist’s that are being displayed are:
Star Wallowing Bull – A Minneapolis native of Chippewa and Arapaho descent, Star Wallowing Bull’s art merges personal history, historical Native American culture, and modern iconography into bright, colorful, and expressive creations. In 2001, he earned a Native American Fellowship from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Fellowship.
Frank Big Bear – Frank Big Bear was born in 1953 on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota. His work has been shown throughout the country and he has been the recipient of many grants and fellowships for his accomplishments in the arts.
Gee’s Bend Quilters – The Gee’s Bend Quilter’s are a collective of women from Rehoboth and Boykin, Alabama. Quilting is a very long standing tradition in the communities and many of these women were trained or apprenticed in quilting at a very young age.
Stuart Nielson – Stuart Nielson’s work will be on view from January ninth through February second.
