The Alexander Ramsey house is one of the nation’s best preserved Victorian homes. It was once the residence of the first governor of the territory of Minnesota, Alexander Ramsey. Construction on the house began in 1868.
The house is operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. Tours of the house, led by costumed guides are offered year round.
The house also hosts a number of extravagant events throughout the year. In December guests can celebrate at “The Homecoming” – Christmas at the Alexander Ramsey House. The staff dresses in costumes and leads tours through the festively decorated home. Cookies fresh from the oven and hot cider are served.
