From the time that their first album dropped in 1997, Atmosphere has continued to stay true to the hip-hop principles the group was founded with. Adding a little Midwest flare to their lyrics and beats, Ant and Slug have overcome serious obstacles on their way to international recognition. The Twin Cities rap and hip-hop scene is a fresh addition to the local music landscape. The family like structure that has evolved with Rhymesayers and Doomtree has allowed solo artists to collaborate and spread their music. Atmosphere is leading the scene and serves as an example for aspiring hopefuls in the Twin Cities. Even though Atmosphere has played countless shows at the 7th Street Entry, and is capable of selling out the main room at First Avenue, the group continues to frequent the small stage to give fans the opportunity to experience live hip-hop in an intimate setting.



Atmosphere has written and produced more albums than you can probably handle. With lyrics that are personal and insightful, Slug’s anthems are often grouped into the subgenre coined conscious hip-hop. Stories and life experiences are detailed in albums that start with Overcast! in 1997 and go through the much anticipated When Life Gives You Lemons…which is set to hit the airwaves in the spring of 2008.
