The Cedar Cultural Center is a vibrant venue located in the West Bank neighborhood in Minneapolis. The Cedar hosts a variety of shows including local and national folk indie rock, jazz and world music acts. It is a non-profit and volunteer driven organization.
The Cedar first opened as the Cedar Theater Building in 1948 as a movie theater. In the 1970s the movie theater closed down and the building was not in use for a number of years. In 1989, it was purchased and reopened as a non-profit live music venue, the Cedar Cultural Center.
The Cedar has a state of the art sound system and a 465 seat hall. Besides the seating space, for many shows, dancing space is also made available. The theater has great sight lines no matter where you sit, so it’s a great place to both hear and see a show.
The Cedar Cultural Center also provides refreshments. They carry a range of domestic microbrews and high quality imported beer as well a high quality wines by the glass. Non-alcoholic drinks (soda, coffee, chai, and juice) as well as snack items are also available.
You can get tickets for upcoming shows at the Cedar at: TICKETWEB, CEDAR TICKETLINE 612-338-2674 EXT 2, ELECTRIC FETUS AND GLOBAL VILLAGE.
